For twelve months, from the 1st May 2016 to the 30th April 2017 we…
1. Let our children be outside for 3 hours, every single day.
2. Spent 2000 hours outdoors.
3. Took lots of photos and wrote about our experience.
Hi, I'm Hannah.
I am the Mum behind Our Year Outdoors.
I am surprisingly though, not really the outdoors type. Up until now my favourite place to be has been tucked up in bed with a cup of tea and good book. I am also a teacher and am passionate about the importance of play for young children. I know from the research how important playing out in nature is for children but I wanted to see whether it would make a difference to our kids if we went outdoors, everyday. This year I also hope to spend lots of time diving into the research about the benefits of playing outside and I look forward to sharing with you, all I am learning and discovering.
I’m married to Nick who has always loved being outdoors. As a kid he spent hours playing in the bushland beside his house. He has been trying to convince me to go camping since we met, ten years ago. Maybe this year will be the year?
Together we have two wild things, Ezra who is three and Phoebe who is one and we live in Tasmania, Australia.
